Benefits of Music Therapy

  • Music therapy is an evidence-based practice facilitated by a trained professional. I use music—through listening, instrument play, improvisation, and songwriting—as a way to support emotional expression, communication, sensory integration, and self-regulation.

You don’t need any prior musical experience. Music therapy can support people across the lifespan—from children and youth with autism, trauma histories, or medical challenges, to adults seeking recovery, personal growth, or creative exploration.

Booking Sessions

  • If you are new to music therapy with me, the first step is to schedule a free 20-minute consultation by phone or video. This meeting gives us a chance to connect, explore your goals, and determine whether my approach feels like a good fit for you. From there, I can design a safe, supportive, and creative experience tailored to your needs.

  • Most clients begin with 3 to 4 initial sessions. These early sessions are a chance for us to get to know each other, build rapport, and see if music therapy feels like the right fit for your needs. Sessions are 40 or 55 minutes long and are adapted to your goals. Each session also includes a short period for documentation, reflection, and planning next steps.

  • After your initial consultation and first few sessions, you may decide to book regular weekly or biweekly sessions. In that case, we will work together to find a time that fits your schedule consistently.

Some clients prefer to book one-off sessions as needed, rather than committing to a regular time. These can be scheduled directly through my online booking site.

  • A sliding scale for fees is available only to ongoing weekly/biweekly clients. Clients who register for ongoing sessions may inquire about a reduced rate, based on a combined household income of $110,000 or less.

Cancellations & Rescheduling

  • If you cancel more than 48 hours before your session, there is no charge.

Cancellations or “no-shows” within 48 hours of the appointment are charged at the full session fee.

Exceptions are made for circumstances beyond your control, such as accidents or illness.

  • Clients who register for regular lessons are asked to provide at least two weeks’ notice for vacations, extended absences, or any events that will impact a scheduled session. This helps me keep schedules consistent and ensures your spot can be held for you.

Each term (Fall, Winter, Spring) follows the local school district calendar. One make-up session per term may be offered if 24+ hours’ notice is given.

  • If you’re running late, please let me know—I will wait up to 15 minutes, and the session will still end at the originally scheduled time.

  • I do my best to provide at least two weeks’ notice if I need to reschedule a session.

Adaptive Music Lessons

  • Adaptive music lessons are structured sessions that combine my 25+ years of teaching experience with a therapeutic lens. Unlike music therapy, these lessons include expectations for regular practice at home. The approach is flexible, supportive, and tailored to each learner’s abilities, making music accessible for all.

Workshops

  • Yes. I facilitate workshops on music therapy, adaptive music, trauma-informed care, and creativity for schools, community organizations, and professional groups. Workshops can be tailored in length and focus to meet the needs of your group.

  • To book a workshop, please contact me directly with your request, including your preferred topic, group size, and potential dates.

I will follow up with details about availability, rates, and how the workshop can be customized for your community or organization.

Ending Therapy or Lessons

  • When you feel ready to conclude music therapy or lessons, I ask for one month’s notice. This allows time for closure, reflection, and, where helpful, final sessions to wrap up the work or celebrate progress.

If you’d like details about rates, payment methods, or have a unique request, please book a free 20min consultation. I am happy to answer questions and help you decide if music therapy, adaptive lessons, or workshops are the right fit.
